Cape Town Wedding: Mati & Lukas

Some weddings are about a single day. Others become an experience that guests will remember for years to come.

For Mati and Lukas, one day simply wasn’t enough. They invited their family and friends to South Africa for an unforgettable three-day celebration at the beautiful Molenvliet, giving everyone the opportunity to slow down and spend time together.

Day One: A South African Welcome

The celebrations began with a relaxed welcome braai, introducing their international guests to one of South Africa’s favourite traditions. There is no better way to welcome people than gathering around incredible local wines and tables filled with food.

It set the tone perfectly for the weekend ahead. Guests who had travelled from around the world were able to meet, reconnect and settle in before the more formal celebrations began.

Day Two: Honouring Tradition

The second day was dedicated to the traditional Roora ceremony, an incredibly meaningful part of the weekend that celebrated family, heritage and the joining of two families.

That evening, everyone came together once again for a vibrant dinner celebration. A live marimba band played while guests enjoyed another evening of incredible food and local wine. As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, fire dancers brought an extra touch of excitement.

Day Three: The Wedding Day

The wedding day itself was everything you hope for.

Guests gathered outdoors for the ceremony, surrounded by mountain views and one of the most colourful floral arches I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Botanica created something truly beautiful, using vibrant flowers that perfectly reflected Mati and Lukas’ fun, joyful personalities.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to cocktail hour. Instead of traditional canapés, they created generous buffet-style food stations filled with local cured meats, artisanal cheeses and some of their favourite pasta dishes. It felt relaxed, abundant and encouraged everyone to mingle while enjoying a proper feast.

One of my favourite personal touches from the day came from the brides love of books! Rather than traditional escort cards, we created a seating plan using beautiful bookmarks. It was such a thoughtful detail that felt completely personal to them, and guests loved taking them home as a keepsake from the weekend.

The reception moved indoors, where colour once again became the hero of the design. Instead of keeping everything neutral, they embraced vibrant table linens in different colours throughout the room, creating a space that felt joyful, warm and full of personality. Botanica did an incredible job bringing the entire vision together with flowers that complemented every table perfectly without feeling overwhelming.

As always, once the formalities were over, the dance floor quickly became the place to be. Great music, fantastic food, flowing South African wine and a room full of people ready to celebrate meant the party continued well into the night.

What made Mati and Lukas’ wedding so memorable wasn’t just the beautiful styling or the incredible setting. It was how intentionally they planned every part of the weekend. Every event had its own purpose, allowing guests to experience the hospitality while also celebrating the traditions and stories that mattered most to them.

Three days, countless memories, and one very full dance floor by the end of it all—exactly how every wedding weekend should finish.

Thank you for having me on board Mati and Lukas, I truly loved planning this wedding and I wish you both all the love in the world!
