I love, love, love this couple. Nikki and Doug live in Dubai and they hired me to be their wedding here in South Africa at the lovely Doolhof Boutique Hotel in Wellington.
Just before walking down the aisle, they did the sweetest little swop of gifts without looking at eachother – it is such a lovely idea. Their ceremony was stunning and looked so gorgeous overlooking the horses in the paddock.
Matt Masson took some lovely photos of them during their couple shoot. This little town is just so beautiful! The mountains and vineyards are something only South Africa has, and I am so proud that so many people decide to get married here and allow me to be their wedding planner.
Nikki and Doug were so awesome to work with. Doug was super into the lighting for the day, so we worked on this together and had the lighting over their reception table custom built for him. It look magical. Rowenna did a beautiful job on their flowers and Nikki was so chuffed with her stationary from Lara’s Designs. Wade created the most beautiful cupcakes for each guest (and they tasted great too, you know, us wedding planners have to do a taste check)
When I told them they could walk into their reception, they didn’t walk at all, they danced! It was so refreshing to see a couple just let go and enjoy themselves during this time. They laughed, cried happy tears and thoroughly enjoyed themselves surrounded by their friends and family. Unfortunately Doug’s dad couldn’t make it to the wedding, but he sent the most heartfelt and funniest speech over a voice note, thank goodness for technology!
