Gemma and Steve’s wedding was held at the lovely Doolhof Boutique Hotel in Wellington, Cape Town. I adore this venue so much! It is perfect for small weddings and the grounds and actual venue are absolutely stunning.
Gemma, Steve and their kids live in the UK. So they decided to do a destination wedding here in South Africa and asked me to plan their wedding. Gemma was seriously chilled, and when I say chilled, I mean she was so chilled we didn’t have a florist. We ordered babies breath straight from the farm and placed them in tins that Gemma had brought over in her suit case! I had a lovely time planning their intimate weekend wedding.
I totally love Gemma’s dress! It worked perfectly for her petite frame and it was so elegant, a definite favourite of mine. They really wanted to spend all their time with their family and friends. So Catherine Mac took a few photos of the happy couple and then let them mingle with their guests. When a wedding planner has a bride that just chills out, it really makes us love our job even more.

The speeches were heartfelt and funny. Their son said the best speech I have heard in a long time, we were all in stitches. They had a lovely dinner and danced the night away under the beautiful fairy lights.
