Staci & Roland tie the knot in Cape Town

Staci and Roland were married in March this year, and although I am good at what I do and try plan everything to the very last detail, I unfortunately do not have control over the weather!

On this day, the weather God’s were not in our favour. We unfortunately had to move the ceremony that was planned to take place on Windmill Beach, to the reception venue at the top of Redhill in Simonstown. I was nervous how Staci would handle this, however, I didn’t have to worry about a thing! For a bride, she was so calm and took everything in her stride.

Her colour for the day was yellow and grey, so it didn’t really matter what the weather was doing outside, because it was cheery and gorgeous inside the venue. The guests gathered inside and waited for the beautiful bride to make her entrance, and once she did, Roland’s face just lit up. It was super sweet to see how he smiled while he watched Staci walk towards him.

The ceremony went off beautifully and their little girl Bella even clapped her hands together when they were pronounced husband and wife!

The photo session must have been a difficult one for Janine from J9 Photography, the winds were picking up quickly and it was beyond cold outside, but the photos came out great and despite the cold, the couple look amazing in their photos.

There was one part of the wedding that no one was expecting! The winds came through from Cape Point with a vengeance, and only a few minutes after everyone had finished their starters, one of the main windows that was behind the bridal table, came smashing in on everyone! Now, although this was no one’s fault and non intentional, I still felt awful for Staci and Roland.

The venue got to work and bordered up the windows and cleaned up the glass, while I was in the bathroom with the maid of honour picking glass out of her hair and making sure the bleeding stopped. It was honestly like something out of a movie! No one could have predicted such a thing to happen, and all I could think of was “what on earth am I going to say to Staci & Roland!!!” But, as happy and loved up couples go, they just wanted to make sure that everyone was ok. I just wanted to hug them! They were SUCH troopers throughout the ordeal.

Once everything was cleared up, the reception continued as if nothing had happened. The guests danced the night away, and they even stayed a few hours longer so they could stay kick off their heels and dance some more!

If there is one thing to learn from this, it’s….
No matter what life throws at you, and no matter what day it decides to throw it, look at the positive. It could have been a lot worse. But at the end of the day, two people said “I Do” and will now share their lives together and watch their gorgeous little daughter grow up to become a beautiful woman. Things go wrong, life doesn’t always go according to plan, but if you learn to let go of the small things and look at the bigger picture, the bigger picture can sometimes be even more beautiful than you ever imagined!

To Staci and Roland, thank you for allowing me to be apart of your special day. I wish you love, light and happiness for your future!
