So excited to share this wedding with you. I loved everything about it and am so glad I was the wedding planner on this wedding.
Shaun and Maria live in Australia, but as Shaun is originally from South Africa, they decided to have their wedding here. This is where I came in. Maria and I skyped and chatted about her ideas for their big day. This is a woman who knows exactly what she wants, which is such a great way to start when it comes to the planning. All of her ideas where simple, yet uber elegant. She wanted to make sure it was intimate and special for not only herself and Shaun, but for everyone that attended. I love couples who want to make sure their guests are taken care of too. Shaun actually had their suits made overseas, and each jacket had their nick name embroidered inside – how awesome is that?
Maria’s ideas for her flowers and decor had my head buzzing with ideas. The flowers looked so exquisite on the day and Maria’s bouquet was so stunning! The florist managed to find a few peonies just before they ended their season.
Boy Meets Girl were the videographers for their day. They do really great work and I think having a videographer is always a good idea if your budget allows. The day goes so fast and you can’t remember everything. They captured their wedding perfectly and the high lights reel is amazing. Check it out here – https://vimeo.com/115687877
Maria and Shaun decided on a first look before their ceremony. I love this idea. It so special for the couple and I think it makes them feel slightly more relaxed before the day really starts. They did this on Hout Bay Beach. Drikus Le Roux was the wedding photographer and he captured this moment, along with the rest of the wedding so nicely. His work is beautiful and he manages to make everyone feel so relaxed.
Maria’s dad has got to be the most unique and awesome father of the bride I have ever met. He danced her up the aisle, he danced himself into the reception and his speech was the sweetest yet funniest speech I have heard in a long time. Her family flew half way around the world to share in her special day and I can see how much they mean to each other.
Shaun and I actually went to school together, so it was really nice to see some faces I hadn’t seen in years. His friendships go way back and it’s a special thing to see how many people kept in contact over the years once we all matriculated. Being thousands of miles apart doesn’t always have to be a bad thing, by the looks of it, they love Shaun even more when he comes to visit them here in Cape Town and they all looked like they had the most amazing time together.
I could go on and on about this wedding. All the providers did a fantastic job and Maria and Shaun had the best day. Their guests were on the dance floor until the lights came on and the bubbly flowed throughout the night. All and all – a successful wedding for a very special couple.
To the loveliest couple: Thank you for allowing me to share in your big day. I loved being apart of it and planning it meant a lot to me. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world.
Thanks to my lovely providers – you all rock!
